2018 Coin of the Year Awards category winners

The world's first 'tri-material coin', 5 euro coin 'Blue Planet Earth' won the Awards for 2018 Coin Of The Year (COTY). The 2018 COTY trophies were awarded at the 2018 World Money Fair Berlin, Germany on 3 February 2018.

2018 COTY

The €5 "Planet Earth" collector coin consists of three components: an outer ring, an inner core as well as an embossable blue polymer ring inserted between the ring and the core. The blue ring is also partially translucent, which means that it is permeable to light.
